Dear parents, I'm excited to announce to you, on behalf of the VACSF Children's Department, some of the upcoming events/services that we'll be organizing this year. Please mark your calendar and note the services we're providing.
EVENTS
Saturday 5/1 (10am-2pm): annual picnic. We will have our first HOP-A-THON where the children hop to raise fund for Good Samaritan Medical Mission surgery sponsorship, kid's camp, and Children's Ministry curriculum materials. Flyers will be distributed out shortly and your child(ren) will be informed in about this activity in a week or two. Since this is our first year fundraise through the HOP-A-THON, please pardon any mistakes or miscommunication errors that we may run into. Feel free to contact me for more info.
Weekend of Friday 6/11 (7:30-9:30) and Saturday 6/12(10am-6pm): Vacation Bible School(VBS). this year's theme is on Joseph's Journey-from Prison to Palace. Registration begins 4/11 and ends 5/16. Please email me for registration form or get it from me at church. This is a "free admission" event but we'll be asking the church for financial support to cover all the expenses. If you're interested in supporting, please let me know.
Weekend of 8/13-8/15: First annual KID'S CAMP, this kid's camp is going on simultaneously with the church Family camp on the same camp ground. The children will be eating meals together with their parents but we'll have our own services/activities and sleeping in the tents under CD staff supervision. Again, this is another new adventure that the Children's Department takes on so we'll be learning along the way of how to perfect it for years to come. However, your prayers, supports, and encouragements will be greatly appreciated :). More info on this will come later.
SERVICES
Rides: The Children's Deparment is currently working on providing rides for the children to come to church on Sundays that you, the parents, cannot make it. Our goal is to have the children to come to church to fellowship with their fellow friends, learn of God's love and purpose for them in life, and ultimately learn to be good witnesses to the people around them. Miss MyHien has graciously volunteered to head up this service and coordinating this for you. You will get an email/phone call from her for more info. on this. She and P. Andrew will be the drivers for now and if the need grows, we'll have more volunteered drivers.
Tutoring: We are also looking into offering a tutorial service for the children in our church and may be extended out to the community in the future. So far, we have approval from the HOPE church to use the facility on Saturday mornings. The CD staff is still in planning/discussion process but we'll keep you post it.
As you can see, lots of things are taking place this year. We will keep you informed with more info. as time goes on. Please continue to keep the children in your prayers. Please don't forget to pray for the Children's Ministry Staff as we walk the faith that we proclaimed in Christ Jesus.
For God's glory,
kally
